Carrie Maxwell Wrigley, LCSW, is a songwriter, counselor, and mother of five. She writes songs reflecting her experience in the healing process, as well as those she has had in personal, family, and religious settings. She has been writing music for over 30 years, and is delighted now to share the work of these many years with a broader audience.
Carrie Wrigley.com, Carrie’s personal site, contains more information, photos, and videos about her work – as a musician, counselor, actress, and speaker. Additional information about these areas of her work is available on her other websites – see an overview of those other sites here.
Carrie has a passion for using the arts and media to do good in the world. She is a popular teacher, having taught at BYU Education Week and elsewhere for eighteen years on topics such as “Christ-Centered Healing from Depression,” “Building Relationships That Last,” and “Endure It Well: How to Find Hope, Meaning, and Joy in the Midst of Adversity.” Carrie teaches through multi-media presentation, using music, pictures, and stories to teach, as well as drawing on her experience and research as a professional counselor. Music plays a powerful role in her teaching, and her songs are designed not just to entertain, but to inspire, heal, comfort, and provide hope to others.
Carrie has produced 6 CD’s, plus many additional songs, hymn arrangements, and programs. She has a Master’s Degree of Social Work, and a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in Theatre, both from the University of Utah. She has been a counselor for over 30 years, and currently provides therapy to individuals, couples, and families in her private practice, Morning Light Counseling, in Sandy, Utah.
Carrie has seen in her professional work the profound damage that can be done to individuals and families through negative uses of music and media. Conversely, she has seen the awesome power of music and the media when it is applied to positive messages, teaching positives values. Seeing this contrast throughout her career is largely what fuels her passion to provide Morning Hope Music.
