Child of Light

Child of light, you spent forever up above –
In a place of joy and perfect love, you grew tall and strong.
Child of light, you raised your sword and battled darkness there,
And knew a tender Father’s care , before you came. So…

CHORUS:
Don’t believe it for a minute
When you hear those darkened fables here about who you are!
You’re a child of the Highest!
Far more precious and more glorious than the brightest star!
You are worth worlds! It’s always been so.
Deep in your heart, somehow you know.

Child of light, that you may grow, that you may learn,
You chose to come and take your turn here in this world of night.
One pinprick in the vast, broad canvas of eternity,
Yet if it’s all you now can see, it can seem pretty bleak, pretty small. But…
(REPEAT CHORUS)

Child of light, as you venture homeward day by day
Through a world set in a shadowed way, please remember –
You’re not alone – somebody gave His life for you
To break the chains and see you through, till you’re Home again!

(FINAL CHORUS)
So don’t believe it for a minute,
When you hear those darkened fables here about who you are!
You’re a child of the Highest,
Far more precious and more glorious than the brightest star!
You are worth worlds! His blood proclaims it so.
Deep in your heart, somehow you know…
Somehow you know… Somehow you know….
That you’re a child of light.
