She always wondered if He loved her; She always wondered if He knew
From His far-off throne in Heaven, What here on earth, she was going through.
The answer came a little strangely – Perhaps not in the usual way.
But it’s an answer that sustains her, Step by step, and day by day:
‘Cause she sees His light in the midst of the darkness;
And she’s felt His love in the heart of the storm.
She knows His strength in the thick of the battle;
And through it all, She’s been lit up from the inside,
She’s lit up from the inside.
Others watch her from a distance, And they draw strength from what they see;
‘Cause she’s so peaceful in her trial – She walks in quiet majesty.
‘Cause she has felt His tender mercy Descending on her soft as rain;
It keeps her going, keeps her smiling – Even in her pain!
Oh, she sees His light in the midst of the darkness;
And she’s felt His love in the heart of the storm.
She knows His strength in the thick of the battle;
And through it all, She’s been lit up from the inside,
She’s lit up from the inside.
Her faith shines brightly in her peaceful eyes; Her hope glows softly in her smile.
The pure love of Jesus fills her once-broken heart: She’s radiant in her trial!
Oh, she reflects His light in the midst of the darkness,
And she extends His love in the heart of the storm.
She shows His strength in the midst of the battle,
And through it all, She’s been lit up on the inside, She’s lit up from the inside.
She’s lit up from the inside, So lit up… from the inside
