Part of the Answer

I don’t know why bad things happen;
There’s an awful lot that I can’t explain.
I don’t know why there’s so much hunger;
Why there’s so many in pain.

I don’t know why storms rage all around us;
Why there’s so much wind and rain.
I don’t know why so many suffer;
There’s so much that I can’t explain.

But this I know – This I know:
It’s not by accident I’m here!

I can be part of the problem –
If I choose, I can take that course;
Or I can reach just a little bit deeper:
I can be, I can be, Part of the answer;
Part of the answer.

I don’t know why bad things happen;
I’m not sure that I’ll ever understand.
But this I know: No matter what happens,
I can lend a hand!
