When I was a little girl, I dreamed of what I’d someday be;
I wondered what I would be like, When I grew up to be me.
I imagined stories from my future; I watched them dance in my mind.
I wondered what kinds of things I’d do, what adventures I might find.
I always dreamed that I’d do…
Something extraordinary – Something wonderful and fine;
Something making the wisest use of this life of mine.
Something extraordinary; Something remarkable and true;
Something significant and meaningful that only I could do.
When I was a little girl, As I’d sit at the window and dream,
I never imagined the tiniest part of the wonders that I have seen.
I’ve watched the hand of God, in a thousand ways,
Work miracles throughout my years;
I’ve felt His sustaining tenderness,
Through my triumphs and through my tears.
Throughout my life, He has built…
Something extraordinary; Something wonderful and fine;
Something that daily makes such wondrous use of this humble life of mine.
Something extraordinary; Something remarkable and true;
Something significant and meaningful that only He could do.
And now, here we are together, gathered to work as one,
With kindness, with hands extended, to see that His work is done.
We extend relief and compassion; We strive, even as He,
To make the world a better and a kinder place –
We walk in charity, building…
Something extraordinary; Something that fills the world with light;
Something that shines like a beacon through this dark, tumultuous night.
Something extraordinary, here in these very latter days,
In these times of storm and of trouble, we walk in His ways.
We build up His kingdom… Together!
Which is something so very…
Extraordinary!
