The spotlight is out – The crowds have all gone home –
In the afterglow, standing here near the stage alone,
I remember all that happened here just now,
As the light of heaven shone through me somehow.
And the applause of God enters into my heart;
In this quiet hour, I can hear it start.
And it whispers sweet words that fill my soul:
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant –
Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
God has made of me his instrument this day,
To speak his words, giving light to others on their way;
Entrusting me with a message from above,
Encircling me in the white fire of his love!
The applause of God warms and fills my heart;
In this quiet hour, I can feel it start.
And it whispers sweet words that fill my soul:
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant –
Enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
“Even now, even here,
Enter my joy – Feel my presence near.”
The applause of God burns through my very heart,
May God grant that this is just the very start
Of the work we do together, he and I,
That I may be his instrument,
And feel his Spirit nigh.
(Enter thou – even now –
Into the joy of thy Lord.)
In this quiet hour
I can feel it
Start.
