The Interview

When I stand before my Savior, What will he ask of me?
When his all-seeing eyes look upon me, What will they see?
When we review together my life’s story, When we watch it frame by frame,
Will I feel joy in that hour with him, Or will I feel shame?

When I stand before my Savior, Will I want to forever stay
In the glory of his presence, Or will I want to run away?
Will I be ready to face him, With a heart that’s clean and pure?
Do I feel confident to meet him with joy, Or am I unsure?

This life is the time for me to prepare for that interview someday,
And the words of the holy prophets Point and show me the way.

When I stand before my Savior, When I appear in his courts above,
He won’t ask for a list of my accomplishments: He’ll want to know who I loved,
Who I served, who I reached out to, In word and thought and deed.
That is what he will be looking for, In his interview with me.

And this life is the time for me to prepare for that meeting with him above,
That he may smile upon me there,
And that I may embraced in the arms of his love!

When I stand before my Savior, Will I hear him say to me,
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant: Enter my joy eternally.”
By walking in love and in service, In word and thought and deed,
I will become even as he is, And I’ll be prepared to see him there,
In his interview with me.

When I’ll kneel before…
My Savior.
