Over two thousand years ago, in a place very far from here,
Wise men searched the holy scriptures, And watched for promised signs to appear.
Then at last, after years, they finally saw it – A shining star, rising in the sky above.
Joyfully they started on their journey,
Following that star to seek their newborn King, with love.
And wise men still seek him – Wise men still follow him –
Not just once, but for a lifetime – At all times, and in all places, every day.
Oh, wise men should always be seeking him, Diligently and fervently,
For if we seek him, we will ever find him, In a very personal way.
Over time, I have come to know, By means of the things that I’ve been through,
That our Savior is truly with us all the time – He’s intimately there, for me and you.
We but have to knock, and he will answer; We but have to go and let him in.
Every day, and in every way, We can open our hearts to him.
For wise men still seek him – Wise men still follow him –
Not just once, but for a lifetime – At all times, and in all places, every day.
Oh, wise men should always be seeking him, Diligently and fervently,
For if we seek him, we will ever find him, In a very personal way.
For if we are wise, and obedient, And fervent in our desire
To be like him in every way, To be purified with fire,
Then we must always be seeking him – That gift from our Father up above –
A gift that keeps on giving tender mercies and endless love.
